Young Italians in Melbourne, their jobs and aspirations
A photographic exhibition by Cristian Iotti

Event overview:
Cristian Iotti, a professional photographer from Reggio Emilia in Italy, has lived in Melbourne from November 2013 to July 2014.
During this period he became interested in the experiences, and indeed the difficulties, of the many young Italians who, after having arrived in Melbourne, find themselves making a living by undertaking all manner of jobs. Often these jobs are far from glamorous and are part of that compromise which is demanded by any country of immigration. This, however, has never kept these resourceful young people from engaging in and pursuing their individual passions.
This exhibition portrays both the resilience of young Italians in Melbourne, working hard in order to make a living and their undaunted desire to turn their dreams into reality

About the author:
Cristian Iotti is a native of Reggio Emilia.
Following his diploma in commercial art, and in the wake of the typical confusion of early adulthood, Cristian re-engaged with his artistic vein.
In 2002 he began a series of collaborations with professional studios and photographers. Three years later he began his career as a free lance photographer in the fields of fashion (Max Mara) and music (MTV).
Cristian's artistic instincts emerge powerfully in his images. A single shot is able to capture the truth of things while, at the same time, expressing his own vision of reality.
