VEILED SECRETS is the first collaborative novel between award winning authors Archimede (Archie) Fusillo and Josie Montano. Both of Italian heritage, the son and daughter of Italian migrants to Australia, the writers have long written about the experiences of their parents, themselves and others of similar backgrounds.
This novel is the story of two young people, brought up in Australia in loving Italian families but in vastly different circumstances. Raised to believe certain aspects of their lives as fact, Nicola (Nick) and Aurelia (Lia), find that their supposedly understandable and predictable worlds are anything but, when on a trip back to Italy with doting grandparents, each is made privy to a past veiled in secrecy and mistrust, a past that has had enormous impacts on the lives each of their families have come to live in Australia.
VEILED SECRETS is a story about the journey from the past to the present-and back again in an effort to make sense of the future. It is a story about an Italy within the Australian diaspora psyche.
