"Il sale e il miele della vita": Mariano Coreno's latest collection of poems to be launched at Museo Italiano!

Museo Italiano at Co.As.It is proud to host another book launch as part of our cultural program for 2016. We are pleased to present the most recent collection of poems written by Mariano Coreno, “Il sale e il miele della vita”, published in July this year with preface by Maria Terresa Liuzzo.
The event will be introduced by Mary Marcuccio, vice-president of the Dante Alighieri Society, and the evening will feature readings by the author and music by Rosa Voto.
The event will be in Italian.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Mariano Coreno is one of Australia’s best-known Italian-Australian poets.
Mariano was born in 1939 in Coreno Ausonio, in the province of Frosinone, Lazio, about 150 km south of Rome. He migrated to Australia in 1956 aged 17.
Mariano’s literary production, both in English and in Italian, spans over 50 years and includes over 100 works such as Gioia Straziata (1962), The War stopped at Cassino (1979), Due Cuori ed Un Coltello (1989), Il Corvo (1993), I Am Alone Tonight (2003). He has published several collections of poetry such as La Lunga Traversata: Raccolta Aggiornata delle Poesie di Mariano Coreno (1993), Stelle Passanti (2001), Il Tempo Straniero (2013) and Un albero per ombrello (2015) also launched at Co.As.It.
Mariano Coreno has also been published in a number of journals and anthologies, such as From Slessor to Dransfield by Bernard Hickey, Gli scrittori italiani e l’emigrazione by Francesco De Nicola and Storia della Letteratura Italiana, Poeti della nuova frontiera “segnali 2010” by Paolo Borruto.
Coreno’s poems display a variety of topics like devotion, human fate, feelings, history and nature. “Il sale e il miele della vita” highlights his ability to perceive and describe love, tenderness and emotional feelings. Nature, in particular, stands out in its emphatic connection with the poet; it is a live entity, perceived by the poet as mother, sister, daughter and lover. The poet listens to nature and the landscapes become part of his inner soul and get translated into words and verses.
